Regional newspapers need to become 'community media businesses' says Johnston Press boss

Very interesting article looking at how the head of Johnston Press, Tim Bowdler, sees the future of the regional press.

The main point seems to be the need for a complete change in 'mindset'.

I still find it amazing that many people involved in the regional press seem to think that if they just keep on going as they always have done everything will be ok.

Do they know something I don't, or do they just really fear change?

Personally, I find the idea of the industry going through such a dramatic transformation exciting. It could offer a whole new set of challenges and opportunities for everyone.
